Full Biography

Major General Santosh Kumar Dhakal (Retd.) is a decorated veteran of Nepali Army, whose four-decade military career stands as a testament to extraordinary leadership, strategic acumen, and unwavering service to the nation.

Commissioned from the Royal Nepalese Military Academy, Kharipati he served in diverse terrains and operational environments — from the glacial heights of Siachen to the complex counter-insurgency landscape of the country — leading with distinction at every rank.

His tenure as a Major General saw him at the apex of operational and administrative command, shaping defence policy, modernising Army infrastructure, and mentoring a new generation of officers.

Since retirement, he has channelled his experience into scholarship and public service — writing extensively on national security, geopolitics, and military strategy, and contributing to premier think tanks and policy forums.
